Chelsea K. Young is a Mississippi-based children’s author, illustrator, educator, and founder of Musical Expressions Experience, a nonprofit arts organization committed to using music, literacy, and technology to uplift and empower youth.

With a background in music education and a passion for culturally responsive storytelling, Chelsea creates books that celebrate creativity, confidence, music, and the unique voices and experiences of children. She is the author-illustrator of Jewel the Fox and His Bucket Drumming Experience (2025) and Jewel the Fox and His First Day of School (2026).

Through her work as an educator, community arts leader, and author, Chelsea encourages young readers to embrace who they are, dream boldly, and discover the beauty in their own unique rhythm. In 2025, she served as a keynote speaker and panelist at the Mississippi Arts Commission’s State Arts Conference, participating in the “Igniting the Future” panel. She also presented at the Mississippi Whole Schools Conference Summer Institute at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2024.

Whether leading arts-integrated programs, teaching music, creating illustrations, or writing stories, Chelsea’s mission remains the same: to inspire, educate, and affirm the next generation.
